In March of 2007, a bulldozer widening the highway near Pacheia Ammos uncovered a Minoan pithos burial and a small cave filled with Early Minoan III pottery. In the search for additional tombs, a series of cuttings in bedrock filled with sherds were discovered at a location called Pefka, across the road from the small cave and the Minoan burial. ...
